Built on relationships, trust, and a deep connection
to the people and landscapes of Ecuador.
We are Alina and Esteban, and The Sápara Experience was born from a place that changed our lives.
When we first arrived in Cuyacocha, we did not know exactly what we were looking for. We only knew we felt drawn to the Amazon, to the forest, and to a way of life that felt far away from the speed and noise of the world we were used to.
What we found there was something much deeper than a trip. We found a family that welcomed us with generosity, a forest that made us listen differently, and a way of living that touched something very deep in us.
Cuyacocha reached our hearts in a way we still carry. It changed how we understand time, community, nature, and what it means to be present.
Since then, this place and the Sápara family have become part of our lives. The Sápara Experience was born from that love, that trust, and the desire to share this journey with people who can enter it with the same respect and openness.
Over time, we built a beautiful relationship with the Sápara family and community who welcomed us.
This relationship is the heart of The Sápara Experience.
The project was born slowly, through trust, friendship, conversations, shared meals, walks through the forest, and a mutual desire to create something meaningful for the community.
We are not opening the doors to this place from the outside. We are doing it because there is trust, care, and a real relationship with the people who host this experience.
That mutual trust is what makes this journey possible.

After experiencing Cuyacocha, we felt that more people should have the chance to feel what we felt — but only in the right way.
Not as tourists arriving to consume a place.
Not as spectators watching a culture from the outside.
But as guests entering a living territory with humility, respect, and openness.
This place transformed us in a beautiful way. It reminded us of something essential: how to slow down, how to listen, how to live closer to the earth, and how much wisdom exists in ways of life that the modern world often overlooks.
We created The Sápara Experience because we wanted to share that possibility with others, while always keeping the care of the territory and the well-being of the community at the center.
The Sápara Experience is created in collaboration with the Sápara community of Cuyacocha.
The community does not simply receive visitors — they host the experience.
Local families, guides, cooks, canoe operators, knowledge keepers, and community members are part of what makes each journey possible. Profits from each experience are shared with the community, helping support local families and community-led priorities.
Our hope is that this project can support Cuyacocha and, over time, other Sápara communities in Ecuador, creating a respectful way for travelers to connect with the Amazon while helping protect the life, culture, and territory that make this experience so rare.
The most important thing is protecting the territory and respecting the people who live there.
Cuyacocha is not a product. It is someone’s home.
That is why this experience is small, intimate, and carefully coordinated. We want every person who arrives to understand that they are entering a place that deserves patience, humility, gratitude, and deep respect.
If this project grows, we want it to grow slowly and consciously — always in a way that benefits the community and never turns their life into a show.
We created The Sápara Experience because Cuyacocha changed our lives.
It touched our hearts and our souls in a way that we still carry with us.
Now, with the trust of the community, we want to open that door for others — carefully, respectfully, and with love for the place and the people who made us feel so deeply connected to the forest.
This is an invitation to enter differently.
Not as a consumer.
Not as a spectator.
But as a guest.
